Pulse polio immunisation programme for 350 children on 10th March 2019

On eve of pulse polio immunisation programme children below 5 years of age were immunised across J&K.  Humanity welfare organisation Helpline NGO has been volunteering for the programme since 2001. Organisation established a transit point at Padshahibagh Crossing in Bijbehara and covered the children travelling with their parents from one place to other. Today 350 children travelling in various vehicles were immunised by volunteers of HWOH, CHILDLINE Anantnag team and animators of child friendly spaces established by UNICEF India.

The children of migrant labourers and children playing in Pashahibagh park were also covered. The volunteers stopped vehicles and covered children below 5 years. In addition the members of childline Anantnag, child friendly spaces and volunteers of HWOHL were assigned duty on various booths under supervision of community health officer and Block mdical officer Bijehara.

It is important to mention here that pulse polio immunisation programme is the campaign against polio disease launched by government of India through department of family welfare. The aim of the campaign is to administer 2 drops of anti polio vaccine in every phase in order to eradicate polio disease. The disease curbs the mobility or walking capacity of children and cripple the person for ever. Thus general public should immunise their children.
